Radhika Joshi Ray
Radhika Joshi Ray is an upcoming Indian classical vocalist of the Jaipur Atrauli Gharana. She is a disciple of Pt. Raghunandan Panshikar. She is a versatile singer and has earned mastery in not only Hindustani classical music, but also in semi-classical forms of music such as Thumri, Dadra, Kajri, Hori and Chaiti.
Over the years, Radhika has evolved into a fine musician with a characteristic style of her own. The alaaps she renders in each Raga is a reflection of her deep thought on the various emotions and moods portrayed by various notes in a Raga and as a result, her music is a fine blend of both emotion and intellect.
Although classical music is her forte, Radhika’s Gurus have inspired her to respect and learn from all musical forms and traditions. Radhika has been very eager to explore different styles of music and has sung in various Indian regional languages. She is a graded artist of the All India Radio and has been awarded scholarship for young artists by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
In addition to her pursuits in music, Radhika holds a PhD in Economics from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and a masters in Economics from Tufts University, Boston.
